Introduction:-
The inclusion of a news client or reader here does not constitute an endorsement.
Inclusion is simply to illustrate the wide variety of news readers available. If you are
new to usenet/network news then my suggestion might be to acquire Agent Forte
since it is simple to setup and use. Then if there are features it lacks that are to be
found in other newsreaders then you can try these out using your knowledge and
experience gleaned from use with Agent Forte.
Windows:-
Microsoft Outlook -
Windows news and mail client with organizer features, such as a calendar and
scheduler. Integrates with Microsoft Office Suite.
Forte, Inc. -
Agent and Free Agent are commercial and freeware newsreaders for 16-bit or 32-bit
Windows systems. Both offer off-line reading and handle binary attachments. Agent
offers advanced filtering options and integrated e-mail support.
MicroPlanet -
Gravity is a shareware newsreader for Windows. Rules-based filtering. Automatically
downloads, decodes, and views images. Offline reading. Multiple server support. Kill
file support.
Binary Boy -
A windows newsgroup downloader that finds binary files matching your search
criteria. Scheduler for unattended downloads. Free version has ads. Registered
version does not.
NewsBin Pro -
Usenet robot for Windows that automatically searches for and downloads binary files.
Detects duplicates and avoids downloading them. Includes a viewer for graphics files.
Binary News Assistant -
Retrieve, download and decode binary newsgroup articles matching your selection
criteria. Supports multiple newsservers. Download a free evaluation copy.
Apicviewer Freeware -
Windows freeware. Search for and download your favorites pictures, movies, and
music from usenet. Avoids redundant searching and duplicate downloading. Includes
pictures viewer, automatic multi-part reconstruction, e-mail sender.

Download links and documentation to freeware, Windows newsreader.
TIFNY Newsreader -
Freeware for Windows. Automated interface to the USENET newsgroups and a
thumbnail picture gallery in one. Displays newsgroup images in real-time. Also allows
you to scroll up and down through the images.
NewsShark -
A high performance Windows newsreader for downloading large binary files. Automatic
restart and resume batch download if news server error or timeout. Finds article
matching your criteria. Handles file decoding.
News Rover -
In Autoscan mode this client will search for news articles based on criteria that you
set and download the messages unattended. File attachment handling, spam
blocking. Demo for download. For Windows.
ASP1-A3 -
Automated Usenet picture receiver for Windows. Free version is full featured, but has
ads. Registered version does not. Many filtering and sorting options. Anti-spam
features.
Re: News -
Shareware newsreader for Windows. Searches the entire text all newsgroup articles
posted on web archives in the last five years. No news server required.
Glaister Consulting - Picture Sucker and
Picture Sucker Pro - Picture sucker is freeware. The Pro version is not limited to
500 pictures. Automatically searches news groups and downloads pictures and other
binary files. "Bozo Bucket" for ignoring articles from certain authors.

A browser interface for reading and posting Usenet messages. Multiple server
support, sorting options, upload binary attachments of any size. For Windows.
NewsGrabber -
Automatically retrieves and decodes USENET news articles and attachments. Includes
an image and text browser, and filtering options. Download a limited-time trial version.
NewsGrub -
Binary extractor for USENET news. It makes downloading much easier for new users.
No new registrations, but author will take questions about NewsGrub. For Windows.
RoboNews -
Windows shareware for automated Usenet newsgroup downloads. Download, view and
organize pictures, images, videos, mp3 files and more from your ISP's Usenet news
server.
Uufix - Fixes dot error in badly uudecoded jpgs and gifs from remarQ or any other
web-based news server.
NewsMonger -
Usenet search and monitoring agent. Supports multiple searches, search scheduling
and e-mail notification when new articles matching criteria are discovered.
Automatically monitors news group submissions. Windows shareware.

RN Newsreader Software -

Knews -
For Unix-like systems. A threaded newsreader with an X Window interface. Distributed
under the GNU public license. Handles MIME, attachments, killfiles, and launches URLs
by clicking.
NN-TK -
A version of the NN newsreader originally written by Kim Fabricius Storm, it has both
a TK based GUI interface and also can be compiled with the original character based
interface.

NN -
Newsreader for Unix-type systems. Highly configurable. Links to source code, FAQs
and tutorials on using NN.
trn: Threaded RN -
A textbased newsreader for POSIX compliant systems. Under development. Developer
is looking for programmers who would like to help with the development.
NewsX -
Freeware distributed under the GNU public license for Unix. Provides the NNTP
capabilities required for serving a small local news spool. Also suitable for exchanging
news with supplemental news sources for full scale news servers.
Tass -
Threaded Usenet newsreader, ancestor of Tin. Tin is the most popular Unix
newsreader.
4. Macintosh:-
MacSOUP -
Macintosh Shareware. A threaded newsreader which optionally handles e-mail. Can
retrieve headers only, read off-line. Killfiles and multiple mailboxes with filters.
Asar Corporation -
Hogwasher is a full-featured Macintosh online/offline newsreader with image viewer,
thread tree display, spell checking, automatic decoding, multi-part post assembly and
other customizable options.
